Watchmenmk - Minimal Sessions V1.1
Artist: Watchmenmk
Release: Minimal Sessions V1.1
Label: Electrobankmuisk
Year: 2006
Format: CDr
Tracks: 11
TRT: 55:57
This CDr is mixed as one long track broken up in 11 parts. I'll start by saying that this is more industrial/experimental than the noise/experimental that I'm use to. Which is great as well. The CDr has a great mix of beats and looped rhythms that never get tiresome. What's this disc actually reminds me of Haujobb, mostly the "99" release. Someone who knows who to mix ambient sounds with glitched drums very well.
What I like best about this CDr is the variety of sounds used in 55 minutes yet WMK is able to keep the same idea flowing across without you wanting to skip a track. Track times vary too from 8 minutes to just under 3 minutes. "Droid Teknik" and "Droid Teknik V2" are probably my favorite on this disc. Showing you a great drum pattern with electro noises in an ambient field. It sounds like this could have been done live in one take and I believe that very much so simply cause of how well it flows.
The artwork is pretty basic with a picture of his equipment on front and back reminiscent of Kraftwerks "Radioactivity". The only draw back is the CDr is not labeled at and I think with the work that went into the case and art that the CDr could use some too. But alas, a great CDr overall and it turns out that Watchmenmk has just released a web release on Roil Noise too. I mention this because the sound and style is very much the same. So if you want to get an idea before you buy, listen here. "2012" is a great release as well and WMK is now a target of mine!
